How to access the Internet

Introduction

All users of Nobelnet must be registered.

Users

You should have gotten an "apartment code", which can be used to register one or more users to an apartment. If you already have a user, but have lost your apartment code, contact the IT department. If you have never received a code, please contact the janitor or IT committee who can create a new one which, when used, deletes any former users and devices registered to your apartment.

Cabled Internet (Ethernet)

All apartments have one or more Ethernet jacks, which can be used to connect PC's, accesspoints, router, or other networking equipment.

Wireless Internet (WiFi)

Nobelnet Does not provide wireless Internet to apartments. It is up to each resident to buy a wireless access point or router if needed.

Common areas

Some common-areas might have a wireless network that can be used by its uses, The WiFi networks are named after the common area.
Using a reachable common-area WiFi while at home excessively might affect its users performance, and can result in a ban from the wireless network.

Apartments

You are allowed to connect your own personal WiFi equipment in your apartment. Personal wireless networks must be secured to restrict unauthorized access to the network, and must be set up within regulations to ensure that everyone has a good wireless experience.
