Terms for using Nobelnet

1. General

The physical network with related hardware and local services is referred to as Nobelnet. By means of Nobelnet, the users can access services through the Internet and locally on Nobelnet. Nobelnet is governed by the IT-committee.

2. Responsibility

The IT-committee does not take responsibility for the validity, confidentiality, genuinity or correct transfer of data on Nobelnet - it also does not guarantee for the correctness or quality of data on Nobelnet or the Internet. The IT-committee does not take liability to pay compensation, neither directly or indirectly, as a result of the use of Nobelnet. Agreements for rights to third- party software, services, information etc., which is accessible through Nobelnet, must be met with the holder of the rights.

A user is responsible for every act carried out by means of the user's hosts or access points in addition to following the rules defined in these terms.

The user is responsible for making sure that its equipment does not negatively affect Nobelnet or users hereof in any way. Defect computers (for example computers infected by virus) can be disconnected without warning. Wireless access points and routers must be properly secured and configured. Unsecured access points or routers will be disconnected without warning. The user must keep their registration information (email address etc.) up-to-date by means of the network setup pages or by contacting the system administrators. The user must also regularly read emails received for the entered email address.

3. Use

Nobelnet offers access to some local services as well as access to the Internet. The use of Nobelnet and thereby the Internet must be performed with respect to current laws as well as common etiquette.

4. User data

CorePower is both data controller and data processor for Nobelnet. The data collected about the users of Nobelnet is the following contact information:

Other than contact information, it is required from the Danish National Research and Education Network, that we are capable of limiting network access to authorized users, and that we are able to help with any investigation into e.g. criminal behaviour by one or more users. In order to identify and authenticate hosts we are registering device MAC addresses together with e.g. DUID or hostnames that are provided by the connected devices when they request IP addresses or prefixes.

In order to aid in troubleshooting internet connections, the users and their devices can be looked up by CorePower staff. Some members of the IT-Committee are also allowed access to user profiles at nobelnet.dk where they can see and help change all of the information that a user can change itself. All access to user data is monitored and logged.

CorePower might collect statistical data for use with performance monitoring and troubleshooting. Should the need for collection of possibly sensitive information arise while troubleshooting an issue (e.g. DNS problems), then all affected users of Nobelnet will be warned of this beforehand.

All users have the right to access, rectify, and remove their data. All personal or sensistive data will be destroyed when no longer needed. User accounts and their linked devices will be automatically deleted when their apartment registers a new user, or if no device is seen for 6 months.

Personal data might be backed up at CorePower controlled servers. Normal deletions of user data might take several months to be fully removed from our backup system. Only CorePower staff has access to the backup, and in the case of a recovery of data from a backup, any stale user data will be deleted as soon as possible, and before allowing access to the system for non-CorePower staff.

All servers used for data processing are located in the EU.

Currently, backups are hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH (Data Processing Agreement), For an up to date list of Hetzner contacts, please see the online Hetzner privacy policy. All other data is hosted locally at Nobelnet.

5. Cancellation

The use of and access to Nobelnet is voluntarily but payment through the rent is compulsory. Contact the system administrators or a member of the IT-Committee to have your user account at the network setup pages deleted.
